spike / peak on 50%

Post by Singular »

Hi,

i got an A-Box some time ago, and have some problem.

Everytime the audiosignal goes quicker loud i get an shock...
but only if the signal was under 50% (the 50% LED is off)

When the volume rises from 0 to 25 or from 50 to 100 there is no problem.

but quick ramps from 0 or 25 over 50% give me a shock/peak... its even higher when it jumps from >0 to 100
i also feel that it has a higher output at round about 50% when the ramp rises slowly.

Does anyone know what i can do about that?

tested it with 2 PCs and 3 Soundcards, maybe its because how that box works?

sadly i bought the box used and the seal is broken :-(
Any suggestions are welcome.

regards
Singular

We can offer to look at the unit even though it is out of repair, (for a small fee) just drop an email to info at e-stim.co.uk, however what you describe doesn't sound like a fault, but more down to the your response. Human response to E-Stim is not linear, and the absolute level is controlled by the output level control, so a rapid increase in signal might feel more spikey than what has previously been felt.

totaly forgot about this thread... Sorry

I gonna lend me a 2B box from a friend and will check if the same behavior happends there too ;)

the rapid increase of the signal itself is not the problem als long the signal stand under the yellow LED. so the increasage of the signal is no problem (i have the output at nearly 100% at this point)

well, i think maybe the best would be to send this to you ;)

i'll think about this and will drop you a mail.

Thanks!

ok, i retestet it...

its no problem if the wave stands between 25% and 50% also no problem ift it stands between 75% and 100%
But if the wave switches between 50% and 75% (green/yello) i get a shock everytime :-/

(Same wave, different volume)

The 2B and the ABox are completely different systems, there is no comparison with the input handling or output system.

The LEDs on an ABox show the input level, and are dependent on the input device used. So if you are getting a spike anywhere it will be generated by the input device, unless the ABox is operating in Microphone mode. Peaking the input will generate a spike in the output which you might feel as a jolt, but it's perfectly normal The ABox is not designed to 'smooth' the output output although it does to a certain extent.

If you want us to have a look at it drop a email to info@e-stim.co.uk

I had exactly the same problem with mine.
I tried it with a sound file that had a gradually rising volume for the same waveform and got a shock just as it hit the 50% mark.

I have had send mine to them for an check.
They didnt found anything abnormal.

But i also couldnt provide an soundfile for testing.

Maybe if you could provide the Soundfile to the Support for testing, they can reproduce this issue.

That's a really good suggestion.
