Hi,

I have been using the 2B for some time now with quite some satisfying results.

But lately I have been experiencing some odd behavior.
Sometimes I get a peak out of the blue.

I tried changing the outputs and even the tried some different cables.
Not sure where this is caused by.

Does anyone has had a similar experience?

Can you describe the exact circumstances when the peak happens?

• How old is your 2B unit?

• Does the peak happen on both channels or just one?

• Which 2B 'mode' were you using?

• Were you turning any knobs, or did it just happen on its own?

• What electrodes were you using, and where were they positioned?

• Were you moving around at the time?

• Were you using battery or the mains adapter?

• I know this sounds stupid but do you live near the sea?

Does it feel like a sudden jump in signal strength? If so, I get this too. It seems to either be a dodgy cable or connection in the socket. I find that if I turn the jack in the socket, it can make a difference.

Well,...
the sea is quite some distance away from where I live and there are no large bodies of (salt)water nearby.
So corrosion should not be one of the causes, if that is what you are hinting at.

I think my unit is around 3 years old.
I bought it with the mains adapter for the stability and "more" power of the output and I have been using it since.

When it happens I mostly use both channels using the Throb or Thrust program just with loops and sometimes with a Big Jim.
I do not use pads anymore since they tend to loosen during a session and can cause some unwanted peaks too.

I will mostly be lying down or sitting conformable, but certainly not walking around.

I suspect the one of the cables as MrSquig mentioned.
When I turn the plug in the socket, the jolt disappears and the sensation is more "equal".

I'll see that I can obtain some new cables and test those.

I tried some new cables and all seems fine now.
It looks like there is a disconnection at the base of the 2mm plug.
I'll try to find some online for a spare cable.

wildmaniac> Yes, I was going to say it all points to a cable plug problem. This usually occurs at the 3.5mm end but can also happen at the 2mm plug.

Cables don't last forever and must be replaced occasionally. Be careful how you wind them up after use for longer service. Cheap cables never seem to last long at all. The E-Stim Systems cables cost a little more but they are better quality and last for ages.

Glad you've identified the problem. I used to have something similar with a straight connector to an anal electrode. The wire got bent constantly and eventually the core broke within the cable, so the signal would disappear and then come back with a jolt. I've now got some low-profile adaptors to prevent it happening again, and wish I'd bought them earlier!
