Feedback from a new user.

Post by oldnik »

I have been experimenting with my new 2B for a couple of days now and I thought you might be interested in some early feedback from a newbie as it were.

As background, I have been playing with electro stimulation for over a couple of decades now, first with home made devices, an early ElectraStim box, then Violet Wands, EMS and TENS units. Both solo and with a partner. This has been in combination with bondage and light BDSM.

The 2B is the first serious specialist power box I've bought and generally I am impressed. I found the user interface simple and the controls easy to use, particularly with the left hand which is both useful and thoughtful.

Power is more than sufficient for current needs ( No pun intended. ) and I am looking forward to learning more with practice as time goes on. Happy with my purchase.

I have just a couple of thoughts for the development team. I post them here because I'm not sure if I have the skills or experience to be of much help in the development forum ( Although it does sound interesting. )

The most puzzling matter is that when changing modes, everything resets to default settings. I understand the need for this with the output power settings of course, returning to zero makes great sense there, but having experimented to find good settings for the adjustments, having them reset to 50 : 50 every time is a little frustrating. It means changing from one mode to another involves also making lots of adjustments before turning the outputs up to where you want them. This interrupts the flow of a session and is distracting at times.

Would it not be possible to build in a way of customising the default settings for different modes?

I can appreciate this might be difficult to build into the box menu without over complicating things but might it be possible to add to the commander interface? Perhaps "Set as Default" buttons next to the settings.

Expanding slightly from there, could these default settings be saved as "User Profiles" allowing different preferences to be stored for different partners for example?

While there is an obvious desire to keep the box interface as simple as possible, the digital link capabilities could offer opportunities to unlock greater potential rather than just controlling the standard settings on the box.

The fact that this unit is capable of being updated and under constant development was an important factor in my buying decision. I like to buy well and buy once. I hope you find my feedback useful and I thank you for the work and ideas you have already put into your device.

Hi oldnik
You don't need any skills at all to join the Developers Forum. It's mainly about trying beta firmware versions and giving some feedback to help weed out the snags and glitches. There are mods in the betas that include some of the features you are looking for.

Thank you StimAdict, I presumed it was all programming gurus and electronics wizards.

I'll put in an application to join then. I'm pretty new here but very interested.

Would the Estim Control be a good choice? I have not used it yet but it might be the answer looking at the manual.

As far as I can see, the parameters could be set in a recorded session but I cannot see a way of setting them for a "live" session which means remembering or noting down preferred settings and setting them in manually before turning up the power every time you change modes.

You could I suppose make a simple mode change into a single recording and change modes by selecting different recordings ( I'll have to experiment.) but that seems a little cumbersome compared to having custom default values.

No, you don't need to be a guru or wizard. Some people are, and they can make technical contributions to the discussion. But it's also very important to have input from everyday users about their experiences with the latest firmware. At the end of the day it's what it does that really matters.
The main criterion for getting into the developers' forum is that you need to be an active contributor to the main forum first.

Could it be changed so that the 2B remembers the adjustment settings but still reverts each channel to zero power rating?
I am also keen on the developers section but have refrained for the same reason as oldnik however I may ask to join in the future now

Spot on. The only reason the Developers Forum is by invitation only is to keep out tossers and time-wasters. Everyone else is welcome. You get free access to the betas and other stuff in return for a little feedback. That's all, nothing scary about it.

I was not refering to Commander for settings
The ESTIM Control/Server will save your favorite settings and even play then from setting to setting. I have not tried it yet but acording to the manual it should do what your looking for.
Hope the attachment is allowed..
