I can't understand why their reaction is so severe. Even on full power I don't jolt like I've seen people in the videos, and certainly don't get doubled over.

Different people react in different ways - that is the fun of E-Stim

I am finding that the placement of the conuctive pads, along with their size, is making a huge difference to the sensation felt.

Whilst, I have certainly yet to find a way of delivering a jolt strong enough to be double over, I have certainly now managed a jolt strong enough to make me jump.
