I sometimes forget to plug mine in and then I wonder why it starts dropping out when I crank up the power. I agree it makes a huge difference when you start using more power or larger electrodes. I am glad I listened to the forum and spent the extra money on the mains adapter. The 30% Si speaks of is likely with a brand new battery. Once the battery gets lower it is significantly less.
